Dr. Sachin Untawale
Director, GHRCE Nagpur

“FDM Solution for healthcare is helping technology to amalgamate with the medical requirements for benefiting the research and innovations in improving resourses used to take care of human health eventually benefiting the society.”

Dr. Sachin Untawale,
Director, GHRCE Nagpur

Established in 1996, G H Raisoni College of Engineering [GHRCE] is a premier Autonomous institution in the central India imparting a holistic technical education to the students residing not only in India but also international students.

The Centre of Excellence for Biomedical Engineering & Technology Incubation Centre (BETiC) has been established in the college in collaboration with BETiC, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. The mission is to explore new basic, clinical and applied research in Healthcare & Biomedical Engineering and translate into applications in the Healthcare sectors.

The institute has collaborated with several local hospitals and medical research institutes. Under this collaboration, the BETiC team had delivered many successful projects to hospitals and consultancy projects (like 3D model of Tibial Plateau). The Stratasys FDM technology also helped research students to develop new products and many patents are in line

From Ideas to Impact: Incubating Startups and Meeting Social Challenges

A collaborative effort led by research students and esteemed professors at BETiC has yielded a sophisticated in-house diagnostic apparatus using Stratasys 3D Printers, adept at detecting Temporomandibular Joint Disorder and foreseeing the early stages of Oral Cancer. This innovative initiative, propelled by a Unnat Bharat Abhiyan grant, is poised to further evolve into a commercial enterprise, underlining its potential to make significant contributions to healthcare diagnostics.

Harnessing the capabilities of the in-house 3D printing machine lab facility, the institution demonstrated its commitment to community welfare during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using the FDM 3D Printer and with ABS 3D Printing materials, he team ingeniously developed a U-shaped splitter for ventilators, providing crucial support to COVID-19 patients, and crafted face shields for frontline healthcare professionals, addressing the urgent need for protective equipment using.

Leveraging the capabilities of the Stratasys 3D Printer, F170, 3D Printer models, the team has successfully embarked on numerous projects, creating prototypes that showcase innovation and application diversity. A number of these projects have entered the patent approval phase, exemplifying the institution’s dedication to pioneering solutions that stand at the forefront of technological advancement.

Stratasys F170 3D Printer

The F170 3D Printing machine allows designers to rapidly create and test their ideas on the same day. With a variety of 3D Printing materials, including TPU filament in addition to PLA, ABS-M30, ASA, and ABS-CF10.Inclusion of ABS-CF10 materials makes FDM 3D Printer stands out as an exceptional carbon fiber 3D Printer using fused deposition modelling technology, all with an affordable 3D Printer price tag. By including TPU Filament, it also enables elastomer 3D Printing, making it suitable for a wide range of 3D Printing applications involving flexible materials. Users can now reduce lead times and costs, improve product quality, and speed up time-to-market.
