Kiran Ravindra Patil
Grade 9, Nagarjuna Vidyaniketan
About me!
I am a 14-year-old, 9th-grade student at Nagarjuna Vidyaniketan School in Karnataka’s capital city, Bangalore, India. I am an aeromodeler and electronics enthusiast, and I like to design remote control planes and create my own circuit boards. I have also authored a book entitled ‘RC WORLD’ for avid learners in the remote control world. Innovating is my passion, and participation is my compassion!
At IIT Bombay
At IIT Bombay, I learned that ‘The secret of getting ahead is getting started.’ In 2015, I participated at IIT Bombay and won several prizes competing with students from IITs nationwide. Among the most innovative projects was an international-level project named ‘Solar Urja Lamp.’ I am pleased to inform you that the lamp I designed was selected as one of the top 15 out of 600 entries. This project involved designing, innovation, and creating a 3D printed prototype of the lamp.
My Journey through 3D Printing
My journey into the world of 3D printing began with a belief that there’s always a superior way to create prototypes. I stumbled upon 3D printing technology, and it opened the door to a realm of innovation that became the cornerstone of my success.
Altem Technologies, a distinguished one of the 3D printing companies in Bangalore, played a pivotal role in this transformative journey. Impressed by my fervor for innovation, Altem Technologies graciously collaborated with me to 3D print the prototype, with their state-of-the-art FDM technology ( Fused Deposition Modelling ) based Stratasys 3D Printers. Witnessing an extraordinary part materialize from mere CAD models on a screen was truly remarkable. What set Altem Technologies apart was their willingness not only to create 3D Printer models but also to paint them in the precise colours I desired. The assembly process of these 3D Printed parts was smooth and hassle-free.
Beyond the tangible support, the motivation and unwavering assistance I received from Altem Technologies significantly boosted my confidence in this project. I owe them immense gratitude for their steadfast support at every juncture.
3D printing technology, in essence, is both an exhilarating and scientifically innovative endeavor. It has the power to turn today’s smallest challenges into tomorrow’s grand solutions. With 3D printing machines, creativity knows no bounds, allowing us to translate our wildest ideas into tangible realities. So, let’s continue exploring solutions to problems, for the horizons of imagination and innovation are limitless!”
