Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Application Development Engineer – Robotics & Automation to drive technical execution and deployment of Cobots for customer projects. The role involves cobot programming, system integration, virtual twin design, and coordination with external vendors for custom fabrication of automation solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for pre-sales demonstrations, proof-of-concept (PoC) development, and post-sales implementation of Cobot-based automation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct technical evaluations, feasibility studies, and live demonstrations of Cobots.
  • Develop and optimize robotic applications for automation solutions, including motion planning, control, and integration with industrial systems.
  • Program and configure robotic arms, PLCs, and automation equipment
  • Integrate 3D vision, AI, and IoT technologies with robotic systems for Industry 4.0 applications.
  • Perform proof of concept (PoC) and demonstrations for customers.
  • Example: Automated inline inspection using a 3D scanner integrated with a Cobot. Or Cobot-based CNC machine tending, where one Cobot interacts with multiple CNC machines for automated part loading/unloading etc
  • Develop custom scripts and plugins to enhance robotic functionality.
  • Collaborate with R&D, sales, and customers to tailor automation solutions to specific industry needs.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues in robotic systems.
  • Provide technical training and documentation for internal teams and customers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Science Engineering.
  • 2-4 years of experience in robotics (with Fanuc, KUKA, ABB, Universal robots etc)
  • Proficiency in robot programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, ROS, RAPID, KRL, etc.).
  • Experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of machine vision, AI, and industrial automation protocols (Modbus, OPC-UA, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with robotic arms (e.g., Dobot, UR, KUKA, ABB, Fanuc) and 3D vision systems.
  • Knowledge of simulation software (e.g., RoboDK, Gazebo, MATLAB, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with robot end-effectors (grippers, suction tools, tool changers).
  • Exposure to CNC automation, machine vision, and force/torque sensors.
  • CAD & Fixture Design: Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360 for fixture/tooling development.
  • Hands-on Debugging & Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and communication issues in robotic systems.
  • Ability to analyse, optimize, and deploy automation workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
